The South Island’s West Coast and Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers

Well known for its rugged and untouched beauty, a trip to the South Island’s West Coast, will be an unforgettable part of your New Zealand adventure.   The main towns are Greymouth with its colonial history of gold and coal mining, and Hokitika where you will find wonderful examples of sacred jade or pounamu sourced nearby and carved by local artisans.

Chauffeur NZ can take you to visit Franz and Fox Glaciers located south of these towns. Fox Glacier at 2700m above sea level is the steepest glacier in the world and 13 kilometres long.  There is accommodation at Franz Josef Village and we can arrange for you to view Franz Josef Glacier on foot, or helicopter flight and four hours walking on Franz Josef Glacier, or a helicopter tour with eight minute landing on the glacier. A range of prices apply for these options.
